Moving the Goalposts: A Tale of Three Cities, One &hellip by Paul Wheeler
This book is a very witty account of some aspects of his life written by a school teacher and football fan. His summary of the types of people that go into teaching is priceless - I can recognise them amongst my own son's teachers. You don't even need to be a football fan to enjoy it. Time for a reprint!

2.0 out of 5 stars The wrong scale, 15 Aug 2012
I bought this map before a holiday in the Canadian Rockies, believing that it would provide sufficient detail to plan walks and enable us to identify mountains as we drove. In the event it did neither. The map was not sufficiently detailed to use for walks - we found local maps provided free by the tourist offices in Banff, Jasper and Lytton (for Stein Valley) much more helpful. It was also not very useful in the car as the area we could see occupied several folds of the map. What I really needed was a road map with mountains (and their heights) clearly marked.

3.0 out of 5 stars Grim, but not reality, 15 Aug 2012
I bought this book having read and enjoyed one of Mina's other novels, The End of the Wasp Season. Garnet Hill proved to be a much more difficult prospect. Whilst the novel may be accurate in some of its descriptions of alcoholism, mental illness, and response to abuse, I didn't find the behaviour of the police entirely believable. Without credibility, the plethora of grim details was overpowering. A disappointment.
