After reading Jenny Valentine's debut novel "Finding Violet Park" I felt compelled to read 'Broken Soup'. The story begins with Rowan Clark, a teenager with very adult responsibilities, who is handed something that she believes does not belong to her. As the novel unravels she soon learns that it holds secrets that even she could never have imagined.

Once again Jenny Valentine narrates the story brilliantly and as a reader I felt close to the characters and drawn into the storyline. Rachel and Theo are teenagers growing up with individual problems at home and in school. Rachel is shy, not at all confident with her appearance and is bullied horribly at school. Meanwhile Theo fights with his mother to discover the secrets in their family and why he constantly has to be protected by a bodyguard. When Rachel receives a strange text from her father reading "The goddess is safe in heaven", everything starts to escalate and the two come together in a race against time to find out the truth about their genetics, attempt to triumph over evil and have a little romance along the way!

Like 'Girl, Missing', this teenage thriller is jam packed with action and very… Read more

I absolutely adored Skulduggery Pleasant; I counted down the days until the sequel was released, bought it the second it came onto the shelves and had read it within hours. (:

`Playing with Fire' lives up to the original book and more as we carry on where we left Valykrie, developing her powers and fighting bad guys, bigger and more horrid than before. With the help of her reflection she spends each day battling with evil, but will she start to miss the home life the `fake' her is living? Or will the mysterious beings, magic powers and constant time off school be enough to keep her happy?!

Each page is bursting with action and thrills and the hilariously quick witted… Read more
