The Railway Man by Eric Lomax
The Railway Man by Eric Lomax
I don't think I could have the compassion shown by Eric Lomax to his torturers and captors but that would be my loss. An inspiring read.
The Boy from Colombo by Matthew Broadbent
The Boy from Colombo by Matthew Broadbent
I downloaded this because of the 5 star reviews and, after reading it, was left very disappointed.

Almost "it was The Butler, in The Library, with the Candle stick" (it wasn't) but the narrative is poor with over-exaggerated descriptions, highly improbable events (throw a mobile phone from some distance with such force and pinpoint accuracy sufficient to disable an armed thief??) and concludes with annoying loose ends (one of the main characters does not even get a mention).

Also my Kindle version had spelling mistakes (which are probably not the fault of the author) but I find that very annoying.

Sorry. Not for me.
A Dog Called Dez - The Story of how one Amazing Do&hellip by John Tovey

4.0 out of 5 stars An interesting read, 5 Jan 2014
Sad in parts, terrifying in others this book tells of the highs and lows of the life (so far!) of John Tovey. Some matters in the story can sometimes be a little too drawn out but a lovely story of man and dog which I found very inspiring.

The first book read on my (new, birthday present) Kindle - which I also like!
