4.0 out of 5 stars A really sad story, 4 Nov 2009
First of all, I have to say that I didn't read the book neither saw any earlier films.
It was then my first opportunity to discover this story.
I can say that I liked watching this BBC drama even though the story is really sad.
I think that in fact this drama tells us that being honest may sometimes be a bad idea...
I found the landscapes beautiful and the actors convincing especially the one playing Alec.

It's not easy to summarize within an hour a 500 pages book like Mankell's Wallander.
I must admit that I had a little bit of disappointment when I was watching the first episode.
Of course I was not hoping to find all the details and atmosphere of the books, but I found the end of One Step Behind quite weird !.
In spite of that the character of Wallander played by Kenneth Branagh is close to the book with its human behaviour and changing mood.
I would recommend to read the books after seeing this TV serie.
