The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey
4.0 out of 5 stars Good...., 26 May 2013
I liked this book, but sometimes was a bit annoyed with it as the story rather stalled in the middle. The author can certainly write about weather, specifically awful winter weather, but I began to tire of this slightly. I still wanted to read on, right enough. I felt the last few chapters rather galloped after the slow burn of the many preceding ones. It will be interesting to see what her next and subsequent books are like, as she's clearly a skilled writer.

These are very good for the money - boght a stack of them to pile up in a cold porch to store veg and fruit and they are great. Cheap, well made and do the biz.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent buy, 11 April 2011
This book is really excellent. I love the alpabetic order and the fact that there's lots of pictures of both the recipes and the produce - especially for the more unusual specimens which sometimes appear in our weekly vegetable box (kohlrabi being a prime example...!). The recipes are clear and concise and the whole book is as well researched and well laid out as all the Expert series. However, as another reviewer pointed out, this book is twice as thick as many of the others in the series thus offering superb value for money - especially at Amazon prices. We're starting to grow our own veg this year and this book will be a real boon. I'd say order this - you won't be disappointed.
