Having received this beast about 3 weeks ago from Amazon, we felt it was time to add a review since it is really hard to decide whether or not to go for it. Having had several AVR's before (two Yamahas and a JVC) I can only rave about the sound this Sony delivers. The online reviews and awards are certainly justified on that front. It packs a mighty punch on soundtracks - so mighty in fact that anyone living in a flat will probably opt to turn on Dynamic Compression because there seems to be vast 'distance' between loudness extremes when such compression is turned off, just as would be the case in a cinema. This seemed like a good product. Insulation was VERY thick to ensure minimal interference among the mass of leads coming in and out of my wonderful Sony STR-DN1040 receiver. This was to carry signal from receiver to an Optoma HD projector. Sadly, while on some devices it sometimes managed to carry sound, a blank black screen presented itself for all devices connected to the receiver, including a WDTV Live box, Sky HD box and a Panasonic DVD recorder. I had hoped to be able to move the devices to the front of the room below the screen with this cable, but it just couldn't do it. This very conveniently sized hard-back would fit into almost any bag and yet manages to deliver an enormous amount of information. It is a very comprehensive overview of clinical hypnosis and its therapeutic methods and applications. Considering the reasonable price, that has to be applauded. The writing style is for the most part very approachable and the range of subject matter most impressive - just click on the 'Look inside' cover illustration above to see what I mean.
