Gold from Gemini (Lovejoy 2) by Jonathan Gash
Gold from Gemini (Lovejoy 2) by Jonathan Gash
I moved onto this one fairly rapidly after completing the first novel (The Judas Pair). Like other readers I've got past the differences in Lovejoy's character from the TV series. I was disappointed there was not that much continuity from the first book - ie no reference to getting the house sorted, etc but only a very minor niggle and it also means you can really read this as a standalone without worrying about what has happened before. As other reviewers have mentioned there are a lot of typos in the Kindle edition which is extremely sloppy especially when you think you can pick up a decent second hand book for as little as a penny plus postage, but I'm not deducting from the star rating… Read more
Dad's War by Chris Tarrant
Dad's War by Chris Tarrant
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent read, 17 Aug 2014
Saw Chris talking about the book on TV and decided it was one to get. Lovingly written - you can almost hear him narrating it too. I learned a great deal about the war from this book. He had a lovely relationship with his father. Finished the book in about three days which is rapid for me!
More it Sticks Out Half a Mile (Classic BBC Comedy&hellip by Harold Snoad
Sadly not something I would listen to over and over again but a pleasant enough way to pass a couple of hours seeing what might have happened to three of the key characters from Dad's Army namely Frank Pike, Arthur Wilson and Bert Hodges. If you've not heard of the series then you'll need to know that it's set just after the war. Wilson is now Bank Manager and Hodges teams up with Pike to secure a loan to buy and renovate the local pier. The character interraction does not work as well as Dad's Army (but them it never would since there were more than three main characters in there) but it's worth a listen.

This title is the second set of episodes from the series.
