I had already read Ray Monk's earlier biography of Russell THE SPIRIT OF SOLITUDE, Russell's life from 1872 to 1921 and also his biography of the Philosopher, Wittgenstein, and found them both extremely interesting and so I ordered THE GHOST OF MADNESS 1921 - 1970. Many years ago, I had been on anti-nuclear demonstrations both with CND and once or twice with Bertrand Russell and so I had some interest in reading about those years though I was mainly interested in reading about the philosophy of a man who was known to much of the world throughout the 20th century.
