20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne
This is a novel I first read 60 years ago and wanted to refresh my memory of how the story unfolded and compare it with the film of the same name, staring James Mason and Kirk Douglas. The film has portrayed the Nautilus as a nuclear powered submarine but the book only goes as far as electrically powered, which was quite revolutionary at the time it was written. The endings are also totally different, a nuclear explosion ends the film, but not so in the book. I won't disclose this so as not to spoil future readers enjoyment.
