I am glad that I read this book. As an Indian with average history knowledge through school and other sources I was shocked to know that there was so much I did not know about the Mutiny. This book destroys all myths and nationalistic views about the Mutiny and shows all the complexities that were present - religion & power and their misuse, the White Mughals, Zafar's helplessness, history being written and told for centuries.
It is rich with details about so many people, including numerous footnotes. You will definitely feel for Zafar and his family and also Delhi.
