Collected Folk Tales by Alan Garner
Collected Folk Tales by Alan Garner
Usual excellent re-telling of folk tales from Garner. JUST BE AWARE, though, that although some are new, it also includes the whole of the Random House & Puffin book 'A Book of Goblins' ('Cavalcade of Goblins'), published from 1969 to the mid-70s.

BUT, as that set his standard in this field and has been long out-of-print (& look at some of the silly prices being asked for it now!), it still represents a welcome 're-issue'.

I jumped at this, because you can't get enough Slim!! But on listening, this sparse collection (some mis-titled anyway) seems to be lifted from the Buddy Guy's Legends series of CDs & DVDs, from which the Charly 'Blues Guitar Summit' CD and various 'Chicago Blues Jam' DVDs (at LEAST)are still around and infinitely better buys............

I've only had a quick listen to see what the 'Re-mastering' has produced. The sound does indeed seem to have been beefed up, BUT SOME OR ALL TRACKS SEEM TO HAVE BEEN SPEEDED-UP, MAKING SOME SOUND SHRILL & DOWNRIGHT SILLY...................

SO, IF THE DOWNLOADS ARE LIKE THE SAMPLES, COUNT ME OUT.................
