I picked this up as a likely-looking good momento of our visit to South Island and it did not disappoint. Seeming to attempting to sell Now Zealand to New Zealanders, you gradually surmise that Marcus doesn't n
like tourists (especially Americans) and that politically correct doesn't trouble his conciousness. It comes over as more honest and personal than a Billy Connolly travelogue and is a splendid guide to a wonderful land. Highly recommended!!

I bought this when it had 15x 5* reviews.
I enjoyed reading this prodct, though I would struggle to call it a book. I hope this is not the future. It's a blog which may or may not have been edited. My greastest frustration though was the very patchy kindle edition. You can glidde through numeroud pages and then be confronted with sub-sequent pages dotted with bad-ly formatted words. These are spread willy-nilly through the text but may suddenly ap-pear in three consecut-ive sentances.
I would have appreciated a map or two.
Interest is kept up by many of the interesting places they visited.

It's best to watch this film with no expectaions. I rented this from Amazon following their recommendation and checking out the reviews. Fortunately I'd forgotten them when I got around to watching this. I tried one night, watched a bit and realised that I wasn't in the mood. Sometimes you need to watch the first 20 mins of a film to get into it.

When I did watch Solas I struggled through most of it but was finally glad I did. It starts quite bleakly and there is an atmosphere of impending danger. Events unfold very s-l-o-w-l-y.
