I've played Football Manager pretty much since I could read and absolutely loved every minute of it. I've never felt the need to write a review before because its always been so good. But this year's is frankly awful.

The match engine has been completely overhauled, so much so that nothing works right. Goalkeepers make errors that you'd see once a season on a regular basis, there's no effort from any of your players to make tackles or interceptions and some of the passing is a joke. They've seemingly tried to make it more about tactics this year, but there isn't enough tactical changes you can make to create a game that's tactics-orientated. There's no doubt that based on graphics, technicalities and general game-play, its miles better than Beijing 2008 was. The new control system is easier to get used to but more difficult to master, albeit is slightly less fun than the one used on the previous game.

The Olympic Games mode is also slightly different making it both more realistic and enjoyable to play; instead of being required to complete various events to progress like on Beijing, you progress through the Games regardless of performance and aim to win as many medals as possible.
