This was by no means a bad story but I think because we were spoiled by her wonderful first book that this was always going to be a little disappointing. However, if you haven't read the Time Traveler's wife I recommend giving this a go first.

...but not completely dreadful either. If this is your first experience of Ms Atkinson's books and you weren't sure then by no means let this put you off her works. I have loved all her other books - start off with Behind the Scenes at the Museum.
However in saying that this book is by no means my favoutrite of the lot. I thought the storyline was a bit week and there was no real mystery unlike Case Histories. But I thought it was well written and it did make me smile in places.

is to not base your opinion of his works on the film adaptations of TV movies. This is the third King book I have read so far and I plan to read many more. Having spent earlier years watching the usual TV and movie versions of his novels, I really wasn't that into him until I picked up IT for want of anything else to read. I was hooked.

Needful things is based in the town of Castlerock which I believe is the setting for a couple of his other novels to which he makes brief reference to in this story.

A new shop opens in Castlerock which seems to sell exactly what the buyer desires. But beware - your heart's desire always comes with a price...
