I bought this device to capture VCR home videos, before the tapes disintegrated.

Firstly, to lay a ghost - it works perfectly well with Windows 7 64 bit. Ion were very helpful in confirming that to me pre-sale, and indeed the drivers installed with no problems. The kit consists of two parts - a hardware transfer device and a copy of Cyberlink Power Director for the video editing. The transfer device sits between the VCR and the PC and just works in the background. All you need is a SCART to RCA 3 wire cable connector. The RCA cable itself is included.

See separate reviews on this site for the WAG160N, which is the router component of this package. This router has serious problems with its wireless functions.

This is a great looking router and its wired functions works very well indeed. However, it is a wireless router, and that is the bit that does not work. All the following comments refer to wireless clients only. The DHCP server will frequently fail to allocate an IP address when the client restarts. Result - no network connection until a router reboot. Secondly, if you allocate a fixed IP address to get round that problem, file and printer sharing does not work - clients cannot see each other.
The Linksys forums have lots of comments on this but Linksys has been totally silent on indicating whether they intend to fix the problem. What is more, as users become more frustrated and… Read more
