1.0 out of 5 stars A Possible Pirate Copy, 31 Jan 2014
This is not The Cabal Cut which is an 155 minute cut of Nightbreed. This is not even the original 102 minute cut. It is, in fact, a 97 minute cut. On top of that it doesn't work on some players. I played it through my PS3 and around the 30 minute mark it slows down and loses sound.

The packaging is in German, but there are no bar-code. The box says 16:9 widescreen, but the picture is actually fullscreen.

I have complained to Amazon and they have refunded me. I suggest you don't buy this copy unless you like being disappointed.

I've been on a bit of a giant monster movie bender since I saw Pacific Rim and I brought this box set along with Gamera and Godzilla vs Biollante. First thing's first: the blu-ray quality is superb. These films don't look like they're nearly 50 years old.

When the monster is let loose the film doesn't disappoint. I felt like a ten year old boy again. Amazing.

Return of Daimajin 8/0 - Another good samurai period drama, but this time it's starting to feel a bit… Read more
Godzilla Vs Biollante [Blu-ray] [2012] [US Import] Blu-ray ~ Kunihiko Mitamura
3.0 out of 5 stars Underwhelming Ending, 24 Aug 2013
I brought this on import not knowing if it would work on my UK PS3. I'm happy to report that it does work.

I brought Godzilla vs. Biolante after watching and loving Pacific Rim with my son. I've seen and enjoyed Godzilla films before, but this just seemed confused. It has some interesting ideas, and the story is OK, but the final battle between the two monsters was underwhelming. It left me wanting more - maybe a proper resolution - but alas it doesn't deliver on the things you'd expect from a Godzilla movie.

I also purchased Daimajin and and Gamera trilogy box sets and all six of those films are superior to this film which I would consider a missed opportunity… Read more
