In My Own Words:
I love music (from classical to indie), movies (mostly indie and foreign), and books (non-fiction, and memoirs in particular), and I love writing about these. I also very much enjoy the performing arts, in particular the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and the Cincinnati Ballet, the two jewels in the rich arts community in Cincinnati, and of course going to see bands in concert. El Pintor ~ Interpol
El Pintor ~ Interpol
Interpol hit pretty much rock bottom with the uneven and uninspired self-titled album in 2010. Jump forward to 2013: after a search that looked like it would never end, the CSO appointed Louis Langree as its new Music Director, and 2013-2014 was the first season of his tenure. Meanwhile, the CSO decided to go the indie way for new releases. This brings us to this, Maestro Langree's first recording with the Cincinnati Symphony… Read more

"Frank" (2014 release from the UK/Ireland; 95 min.) brings the story of Jon, a British wanna-be musician. As the movie opens, we see Jon trying to compose a song, to no avail. By complete coincidence, Jon makes the acquaintance of a band with the unpronounceable name "Soronprfbs" who are looking for a replacement keyboard player. Jon can't believe his good luck when he is invited to join the band, at first just for one gig, but later on for "something big in Ireland". Meanwhile, the band's lead singer and song writer is a guy named Frank, who is never seen without his large papier-māché head. What caused Frank to start wearing that head? Is he perhaps… Read more
