This is the album that got me into Arjen's music and still, I have to admit, by far my favourite of his. Hell, it's one of my favourite albums, period. Some people may complain about the "juvenile" or "cheesy" lyrics... do they not realise it is mean to be in the style of a 50s B-Movie?! It's meant to be a bit daft... the characters are meant to be total cliches... it's having fun! After a few spins I found the narrator's deranged saturday night sci-fi theatre ramblings totally addictive - it really is a performance that, silly or not, would be hard for most people to do and get away with it. Despite being quite a fan of gothic/symphonic/proggy rock in the vein of After Forever, Within Temptation, Epic, The Gathering and the rest, for some reason I had never even heard of these guys. I saw it on a recommended list here, bought it on a whim, and boy am I glad I did... This is easily my favourite album of the year!

First thing to state is that this is NOT a femme fronted "gothic metal" band! They have an attractive looking lady on vocals and some dark lyrics and sounds with gothic tendencies but what sets this album apart is that, alongside some refreshingly more classically themed and personal lyrics, it has a HUGE vein of classic progressive hard rock flowing right… Read more
