I have been looking for a pair of brown boots for years and finally think I've found the perfect pair for me. Lovely soft leather, comfy round toe, not too high. Good style in that they are quirky/unusual but not high fashion so shouldn't date. Also a good half way between casual and smart. All I would say is that if you have thin legs they are probably not for you. My calves are often too big for knee boots but these are very generous, in fact I could even wear them over jeans which is not something I could usually do. A gorgeous book that always makes me want to cry! The baby in the book looks so happy and innocent and reminds me of my little boy - I'm sure I will weep copiously over it when he's a spotty teenager. Beautifully illustrated with absolutely tons of detail to talk about with children, and really evocative - a really well-observed child's eye view of what i imagine is London in the 40s. Like many of Janet and Alan Ahlberg's books, this is just as good for the adult as the child.

Like 'Peepo' it is full of lovely detail and done with such amazing affection for family life. Makes you feel all cosy and the items feel familiar, even if your mother hardly ever made a homemade cake for tea. Children love looking at the pictures and talking about them and i like to give it to people who've just had a baby, especially if there is an older sibling who can look at it too. Having said this, I think it would appeal to any… Read more
