Whisper of the Heart [DVD] DVD ~ Yoshifumi Kondo
Whisper of the Heart [DVD] DVD ~ Yoshifumi Kondo
Whisper of the Heart is a movie worth seeing. Although the story takes some time to develop there are plenty of heart-felt moments and tear-jerking scenes to get you through this movie with ease, I had no trouble. After seeing Only Yesterday I didn't think romance from Studio Ghibli could get any better but low and behold it did and it took me into Shizuku's dream world. The story of two soul mates finding one another plus finding their aspirations makes this story full of hope and happiness. It's heightened by the beautiful artwork and Yoshifumi Kondo definitely knew how to capture the audience with his fantastical characters. A masterpiece about the awakening of creative talent and one to… Read more

The film is a good watch but I'm left wanting questions answered. We never find out about Arren/Lebannen's past and what made him fear death. We never find out what Tenar was doing in the tombs of atuan or how sparrowhawk came to rescue her and we never find out about Therru's past. It's a good try on Goro Miyazaki's part and he did get good comments from his father. The animation is amazing equally so are the songs especially Therru's song.

Despite all this in a week I have watched it twice so something's making me come back to it. I think it's best to read the books if you haven't already done so, something I should have done before watching the film. That way many questions… Read more

I have to say I had my doubts about this film, especially because it wasn't done by a company I know well like Pixar or Dreamworks but I have to say it was really good!
I don't really know the story of Astro Boy but after looking at the special features included I realised how faithful they tried to keep to the storyline.
One of my rules is if an animated film makes you laugh or cry then it's good and there are definitely moments that crack you up and moments that make you reach for a tissue.
I don't think it reaches the standards that Dreamworks and Pixar are setting but it's definitely up there close to them. Some people seem to think the actors aren't up to scratch but I… Read more
