I love animal humour. I love dark humour. This satisfies both. Some cartoons are stronger than others,and while I'm not fond of the author's illustrative style, I think it works well. You don't have to be anti-cat or anti-animal to enjoy this book.
Not only does this book of 450 snowflake photos show you that every snowflake is indeed different, but it shows how beautiful they are. Lighting changes so that it is not a tedious visual journey with the exact same background color, and several snowflakes even get different light on it and rephotographed on opposite pages to illustrate how it changes the photograph entirely. Scattered are quotes relating to snowflakes and the wonders of nature which enhance the experience. It makes a wonderful gift as well as a coffee table book. I agree with the cash-in aspect of the book. If you're giving it as a gift, it may be a good idea to pick up the book and look through it first. Not for really young kids. Your Top Gear fan may absolutely love it, or be bored with it. I thought it clever for the first few pages, then found it tedious.
