Anyone interested in early renaissance art must read this book it is immensely readable, brief but illuminating. It contains lots of source material well translated. Its only drawback is its lack of big colour plates, but everything in the book is so 'choice' that they may be superfluous.

Paul Simon eat your heart out! Diamond uses African voices and themes to punctuate this album that is a forgotten star of his catalogue, was it ahead if its time? You decide. Thankfully re-released this album is beautifully naive and beautiful. This has to rank as one of the must have records for any true Neil Diamond fans.
Modernity and Modernism: French Painting in the Ni&hellip by Francis Frascina

This book is designed with the O.U 3rd level(equivalent of final year undergraduate)course A316. But if you have ever wanted to study art, but don't want to commit yourself THIS IS THE BOOK FOR YOU. It covers some interesting and important artists from the mid 19th C onwards, and is a good way of introducing some of the more theoretical writings about modern art. However it is woefully short of British art, as are the three companion books, and being a francophile will help you lots.
