It's nice to see Adam Sandler in another film which isn't a comedy.
I really enjoyed some elements of this film, it's got some quirky characters which in some way really don't fit with the serious underlying plot and character developments in this film. I think this already is what makes this film intresting.
It ahs it quirky moments to go with it's characters, the humour is very subtle in a very Wes Anderson esque way but far less pretentious and in a sort of pretty honest way.
Adam Sandler plays much like he did in 'Punch Drunk Love' a very believeable charcter. The charcter has elements of what we are use to from him but it's very… Read more

It's well written in the way that you can't help but feel that Paul Haggis wants everyone to think it's clever and thoughtful, obviously writers and directors want people to like their work but in this case i felt it was very forced upon me.
The opening monlogue isn't capatvating or profound, thats harsh i know, but my interpretation. 10 or 15 minutes later we have Sandra Bullock ranting and raving about some 'ethics' and stereotypes of racism. It all feels a little rushed.
The multi strand narrative is too much for me, all these characters dealing with racism. The caharcters all affectign one another, this isn't new but ti felt liek the right… Read more

The United States Of Leland is some what a hidden Gem in my opinion, it's an original film and well written to, in a time where we are swamped with sequels, remakes and adaptions of popular books.
We see Ryan talk about his crime, he has no answer, only how he felt, we see how the crime he has commited has affected everyone around him directly. This notion is quite haunting but the film carries a distinct lack of emotion. I did find it hard to sympathise or dislike charcaters, but this should really not deter from the overall film, as it does make you think.
There are good performances from Ryan Gosling, and Don Cheadle, while Kevin Spacey plays a solid supporting role as… Read more
