Play Me: The Complete Uni Studio Recordings...Plus&hellip ~ Neil Diamond

Including 6 whole LPs between 1968 and 1972, a rare B-side and 7 live cuts relevant to the time period - there's a ton of stuff on this May 2002 3CD set. In order to get a grip on it - I've broken it down into disc-by-disc details. "Play Me: The Complete Uni Studio Recordings...Plus!" on MCA/Universal 088 112 824 2 pans out as follows:

Disc 1 (79:56 minutes):
The first LP has two versions so I've shown how to sequence either -
"Velvet Gloves And Spit" - October 1968 LP on Uni Records 73030 (Original)
(7/1 = Track 7 on Disc 1 etc):

1. Sunday Sun (7/1)
2. A Modern Day Version Of Love (2/1)
3. Honey-Drippin' Times (3/1)
4. The Pot Smoker's… Read more
Sandy ~ Sandy Denny
Sandy ~ Sandy Denny

Sandy Denny's 1971 debut album "The North Star Grassman And The Ravens" was a superb start - but her second outing simply called "Sandy" emblazoned her lovely music into music-loving hearts like nothing before. A Folk-Rock masterpiece - it's been revered ever since. This mid-priced expanded CD reissue and remaster on Island IMCD 314 (issued in May 2005) breaks down as follows (64:49 minutes):

Tracks 1 to 10 are her 2nd solo album "Sandy" - released September 1972 in the UK on Island ILPS 9207
Tracks 11 to 15 are BONUS
"Here Is Silence" and "Man Of Iron" were the A&B-sides of a rare UK 7" single on Island WIP 6141 issued in September 1972 (both tracks from the film "Pass… Read more
If I Could Only Remember My Name by David Crosby (&hellip ~ David Crosby
Although slammed by many press types on its 1971 release - David Crosby's debut solo album "If I Could Only Remember My Name" has gone on to become almost mythical amongst its many devotees - including me. Some have even suggested that in hindsight - it's the best solo effort to come out of the mighty Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young camp (not so sure about that - but its up there).

This superb 2006 2-disc reissue on Rhino R2 73204 (CD and DVD-Audio) goes back to the original tapes (the last CD version was in 1990) to give us a genuine audio overhaul on the HDCD with an Advanced Resolution Surround Sound Mix for the bonus DVD-A (96K/24-Bit). It also adds on a lone but superlative… Read more
