Captain America: The Winter Soldier [Blu-ray] [Reg&hellip Blu-ray ~ Chris Evans
When I sat watching the first Captain America film ("The First Avenger") in 2011 - I was laughing and cringing - for all the wrong reasons. I thought it was one of the weakest Marvel adaptations I'd seen. Sure it was entertaining in places and it featured the stunning Hayley Atwell (enough to make most men weak at the knees and nervous in other extremities) and even had a silly looking Nazi bad guy as the fist of an evil organization called "Hydra" (Hugo Weaving). Well someone seems to have lit a match under the "Captain America" team - because outing number two "The Winter Soldier" absolutely rocks like few other blockbusters have.

The action sets pieces are quite brilliant… Read more

This extraordinary Hip-O Select series began in the States in January 2005 with Volume 1 covering 1959-1961 and ended a total of 14 'books' later in December 2013 with Volume 12B covering the second half of 1972. For Motown fans it's been an exhilarating if not costly ride - a whopping 75 numbered-volumes on CD, 14 specially pressed 7" singles attached to the front and a staggering 1847 songs. You get the singles mixes in true MONO from the original Motown Master Tapes - promo STEREO versions where applicable and even Rare and Alternate Takes. Each volume is a sumptuous wow (see full list below). I own them all except Volumes 1 and the ever-elusive Volume 6 (now extortionately… Read more

It's rare that you hear a song (or singer) who stops you in your tracks - hits you with a tune so filled with pain and truth that it feels like some sort of musical open wound. "B.M.F.A" is such a song.

Like many I stumbled on this American 5-track EP CD single (on Zoe 021 432 007-2) and I've been quietly in love with it since 2005. Stylistically its part k.d. Lang - part Shawn Colvin - part Rosanna Cash - part Beth Orton - a wonderful set of songs. "B.M.F.A", "I Will Internalize", "When The Day Is Short" and "It's Over" are originals with "How Soon" being a cover of a 1947 Jack Owens classic ballad (lyrics above)...

Strange, moving and gorgeous...pick it up soon...
