Dream Theater have slowly ground to a halt with this, their 9th studio release. It simply does not cut the mustard. All the songs are intensely boring, with excessive noodling on Petrucci's and Rudess' behalves. On Octavarium, the title track grew and grew, climaxing with the final scream of "Octavarium" from LaBrie. Now, on Systematic Chaos, there is none of this. All the noodling may appeal to the members themselves, but certainly not to the fans. Go back to the way you were before boys, with the sonic mountains that were dramatic and exciting. Not this meaningless guiar and synth wankery you are knocking out these days.
