Edge Of Darkness - The Complete Series [1985] [DVD&hellip DVD ~ Bob Peck

The Edge of Darkness was ahead of its time. With a strong over-arching story arc that spans several episodes, borrowing from Dennis Potter's modus operandi, it tells the tale of a police man looking to discover the reason for his daughter's murder. Delving into 1980s cold war politics, and with a strong sense of fear of imminent destruction by nuclear power, the story carries a relevant and timeless message. A haunting soundtrack, at times reminiscent of Hennie Vierten's music from the terrifying Dutch film Spoorloos, by Eric Claption, sews the film together.

Ignore the 2010 Hollywood remake, and watch the original. As relevant today as it ever was.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Platypus, 1 Nov 2013
I like the duck-billed platypus
Because it is anomalous.
I like the way it raises its family
Partly birdly, partly mammaly.
I like its independent attitude.
Let no one call it a duck-billed platitude.

Little needs to be said about this book. A masterpiece translation from one of the most powerful classic texts; two of the greatest writers in history synthesise. Simply beautiful.
