Welcome Back My Friends To The Show That Never End&hellip ~ Emerson, Lake & Palmer

This is potentially the best prog rock live album of that magical era. ELP exceed their studio pretentiousness with more dynamic and virtuosic playing than before; something which few bands have the capacity to do, especially with only three members. The set list focuses on Brain Salad Surgery, which is understandable as that would have been their most recent album at the time, but the inimitable Tarkus suite is there too, and an orgasmic improv workout in the form of Take a Pebble that streches over both discs! These guys have talent that is beyond belief, and I'm only reminded that they're actually humans when the occassional (and understandable) mistake is made.
