Whilst the film was enjoyable and not too corny, there was one over-riding flaw. And that was the time line. Anyone thinking of watching The Lake House should be warned that there are huge holes in the plot. Whilst it was novel to have someone writing to someone in the past and visa versa, you cannot expect that when occurances change in the past that they won't have a ripple effect on the future. Saying that though, I was still caught up in the story and it did hold my attention.
