Having read Raising Steam in 3 sittings I can say that, yes, it' a great read that really pulls you along in its wake - if the speed of the railway's development in Ankh-Morpork seems rushed then it mirrors the reality of the industrial revolution itself! All the main characters develop from their last appearances, and there's a plot which, although far fetched, is no more far fetched than most Discworld books, and is sturdy enough for the writing to hang off. As always with Terry it's the bits around the plot that make it a pleasure to read.

Very entertaining collection of Reacher's rules for life, taken from the books. Great gift for Xmas, but it's not a novel, it's a gift book.
