Kindle Tip: Unresponsive Kindle

Restarting your Kindle software can solve intermittent problems. Before you restart your Kindle, please make sure it's disconnected from any power source.

For eReaders, press and hold the power button on your Kindle for a full 20 seconds. Once the 20 seconds have elapsed, release the power button. The screen should go blank within a few moments, flicker or flash a few times, and then you'll see the main loading screen.

For Kindle Fire devices, press and hold the power button, then tap the Shut Down button when it appears on the screen. After the device has completely turned off, press the power button to restart your Kindle Fire.
