Android Security Notice

I'm getting an android security notice come up when I try to log into a forum that I've used for years. It tries to divert me to ukholstravel.com/security. It wants me to get the latest anti virus app. Obviously I don't click on it.

Apart from resetting to factory settings which I really don't want to do is there a solution?

I've got malwarebytes on here and a scan shows nothing.

Any ideas? Thanks

maybe it's a problem with links on that particular forum - I've never seen a security warning on my Fire except the odd pop up ads on free games

Do you have anti virus software too as malwarebytes is anti malware only, I recommend Eset free version. I use the premium version from eset's website.

Since it is in fact completely impossible to get any kind of virus on an Android device the anti-malware feature is all that is needed.

In fact I consider that overkill as you cannot get any form of malware on an Android device except by installing it as part of an app, so all you really have to do is decline to install offered apps except from Amazon's appstore, which is well curated.

Browsing websites cannot in any way infect an Android phone or tablet, and anti-virus software is a complete waste of money and device capacity.

I think you are getting a bit mixed up. You could be correct with Kindles and Amazon's app store but to blanket all Android devices into this is a bit rash as most use different app stores where there could be malware. I certainly don't think any viruses have been found on Android devices YET but plenty of malware. As you know the difference is that malware does not replicate itself but can be every bit as damaging as a virus.
EDIT
The recent scare was about being able to read deleted data as it was not actually deleted only the pointers moved. This is exactly the same as Windows the only way to prevent this is to run a programme the overwrites the memory (Disk in the case of windows) with random characters. I do not think such a programme is available for Android devices. It is more of a problem with Android devices as the tend to be sold on more.

I don't know about that but Malwarebytes has caught several potentially unwanted applications within Amazon games & if you download from 3rd party sites then anti virus is a must imo.

If you are still getting this problem then you still have the same crappy app installed on your Fire that has been written by a wierdo and who has built in some software designed to HURT your Fire.

Reset your fire to default to remove everything and start again. Yes you will have to download everything again. Yes you will lose games scores and game levels.
BE AWARE - One of those games is deliberatly corrupting and damaging your Fire and trying to steal data, information and money from you! Download your games one at a time, play with them. Check if this problem happens. Do this short test before and after each game or app you decide to download. When the problem starts again you know which evil game did it.
You will have to restore Defaults AGAIN and remember never to download that rubbish game/app ever again.

That's how you cure it.

This part of your answer is not necessary, CW. It's anti - weirdo and contains a naughty word. Down with this sort of thing!

I have to agree with CW on this, I have often had sound advice from CW and am grateful. Unfortunately, some people don't help themselves and despite all attempts to help - like suggesting deleting the app causing the problem - they still moan about the same problem as they don't want to accept that the answer given is the only answer. This in turn gets helpful posters backs up and little outbursts happen from time to time. I personally though CW's reply was quite mild and made me giggle.

I had the same problem and have cured it by re-installing my browser. You won't need to re-download any other apps. Check if this is the problem by trying a different browser.
