Has anyone else bought a kindle from Waterstones and tried to get rid of their screen saver? It is a particularly irritating Murakami quote. Love his books but do we want "if you only read the books that everyone else is reading ...." endlessly? Waterstones say they could change it but don't plan to do so. Patronising. So DON'T buy from Waterstones unless you want the same boring screen saver popping up every time and if you have a Waterstones' Kindle perhaps you would like to join my campaign and email customer services asking for a bit of variety? ereadersupport@waterstones.com

Shut your eyes when you wake your Kindle up or buy a case that puts it to sleep and wakes it up and then you need never see the screensaver.

Unless of course the Waterstones one is cheaper in which case this is a price you pay for a cheaper version. Otherwise buy one from Amazon and get the screen saves you want. If you search on Google there are ways of changing the screen savers and you may wish to do this but be very careful that you don't end up with a dead Kindle.
The file to overwrite is in "/var/local/custom_screensavers/bg_medium_ss00.png" you can even put your own .png picture there.

Buy a case which puts the Kindle to sleep and wake it up and then you've no need to start a campaign.
