Bookmarks, Highlights, and Notes

Manage your bookmarks, highlights, and notes in a Kindle book or personal document on your Kindle Fire. Help for Kindle Fire (2nd Generation), Kindle Fire HD 7" (2nd Generation), and Kindle Fire HD 8.9" (2nd Generation).

  • Add or remove a bookmark - To add a bookmark, tap the top right corner of your screen. You will see the Bookmark image of the bookmark icon 
			 icon appear. To remove a bookmark, tap on the Bookmark icon.
  • Highlight a word or phrase -
    • To add a highlight, press and hold a word or press and drag over a phrase. From the highlighting options, tap your preferred highlight colour.
    • To remove a highlight, press and hold a word in the highlighted area, and then tap the X in the highlight colour previously selected.

      Note: To change the colour of a highlight, tap the centre of the screen, and then tap Notes. Press and hold a highlighted word or passage, and then tap Change highlight colour to [COLOUR].

  • Add a note - Press and drag to highlight the desired text. Tap Note, and then type your desired text. Tap Save to create your note. A blue icon appears in the text where you made the note.
  • Edit or remove a note -
    • Edit a note - Tap the blue icon where the note appears, and then tap Edit. Make your desired changes, and then tap Save.
    • Remove a note - Tap on the blue icon where the note appears, and then tap Delete. Tap Delete again to confirm the change.
  • Share a note or highlight - While reading, press and drag to highlight the text you want to share and then tap Comment. Tap the Add an optional note field, and then enter your comment. Tap Share. By default, your note and highlight is shared on You can also share via Facebook and Twitter before you submit your comment.
