Set Parental Controls for In-App Purchases

You can set up Parental Controls to add security for in-app purchases on your device.

Note: For information on Kindle Fire, go to Kindle Support Kindle Support , and then select your device.

To set up Parental Controls on your device for in-app purchases:
  1. Launch the Amazon Appstore or the Amazon Mobile app for Android.
    • For Amazon Appstore: Open the menu, tap Settings, and then tap Parental Controls.
    • For Amazon app for Android: Open the menu, expand the Apps & Games submenu, tap Apps & Games Settings, and then tap Parental Controls.
  2. Select Enable Parental Controls, and then enter your account password. Your Amazon account password or purchase PIN (see step 4) is now required to purchase in-app items.
  3. (Optional) To require a PIN instead of your password for purchasing in-app items, do step 3, and then also select Use PIN.

  • To turn off In-App Purchasing on your device, go to Turn Off In-App Purchasing.
  • Appstore purchases are not returnable. For information, go to Amazon Appstore Terms of Use.
  • Parental Controls only apply to In-App Purchasing and aren't supported for all Amazon Appstore purchases.
  • You may see a prompt to enter your parental control password or purchase PIN more than once in a session, based on Amazon's standard password protection features.
  • If you have both the Amazon Appstore (version 10.0+) and the Amazon app for Android (version 5.0+) on your device, your Parental Controls settings will be synchronised between the two apps so that you only have to enter settings once. All apps you download from Amazon on your device will use the same settings on that device.
