Set Parental Controls for In-App Purchases

You can set up Parental Controls to add security for in-app purchases on your device.

To set up Parental Controls on your device for in-app purchases:
  1. Launch the Amazon Appstore on your device.
  2. Open the menu, tap Settings, and then tap Parental Controls.
  3. Select Enable Parental Controls, and then enter your Amazon account password. Once you do this, entry of your Amazon account password will be required to complete any in-app purchases on your device.

Tip: You can also set up Parental Controls for in-app purchases from the Amazon app for Android version 5.0 or higher by following these steps:
  1. Launch the Amazon app for Android on your device.
  2. Open the menu, expand the Apps & Games submenu, tap Apps & Games Settings, and then tap Parental Controls.
  3. Select Enable Parental Controls, and then enter your Amazon account password.

You also have the option to require a PIN for in-app purchases instead of your account password. To do this, select Use PIN after enabling Parental Controls.

Note:

  • To turn off In-App Purchasing on your device, go to Turn Off In-App Purchasing .
  • Appstore purchases are not returnable. For more information, go to Amazon Appstore Terms of Use.
  • Parental Controls only apply to In-App Purchasing and aren't supported for all Amazon Appstore purchases. Fire Tablets have device-specific parental controls you can use to manage Appstore purchasing options. For more information, go to Fire & Kindle Support and select your device.
  • You may see a prompt to enter your parental control password or purchase PIN more than once in a session, based on Amazon's standard password protection features.
  • If you have both the Amazon Appstore (version 10.0+) and the Amazon app for Android (version 5.0+) on your device, your Parental Controls settings are synchronised between the two apps so that you only have to enter settings once. All apps you download from Amazon on your device use the same settings on that device.
