Check the Status of Your Wireless Connection

If you are having trouble with shopping, downloading, streaming, or syncing, check your Kindle Fire HD (Previous Generation) for the status of the wireless connection.

From any screen, view the wireless indicators in the upper right corner of your Kindle Fire. The wireless indicator appears when in range of a trusted network.
Wireless Indicator Description

Your Kindle Fire is connected to a Wi-Fi network and has a strong signal.

Your Kindle Fire is connected to a Wi-Fi network and has a weak signal.

Your Kindle Fire is connected to Wi-Fi, but can't connect to the Internet. Your wireless network may require additional authentication (such as a password), or you may need to restart your router and Kindle Fire, before you can connect to the Internet.
