Purchasing Pottermore content

Harry Potter Kindle books can only be purchased from Pottermore a third-party website, and not from your Kindle or the Kindle Store on Amazon.co.uk. To complete a purchase at Pottermore you will need to create a separate Pottermore Shop account, but you will be able to link Pottermore book purchases to your Kindle account once your purchase is completed.

When you visit one of the Harry Potter detail pages on Amazon.co.uk, you will see a "Buy at Pottermore" button on the right hand side of your screen. Clicking this button will take you to the product detail page for the same book at the Pottermore Shop.

To select a book for purchase, click "Add to basket". You can add items to your basket from either the main Harry Potter Ebooks page or from a specific product detail page. By clicking the "Add to basket" button, you will be given the option to review your selections or make changes to your order before proceeding to checkout. If you would like to continue browsing the Pottermore Shop simply click the "Continue Shopping" link.

If you wish to purchase your selected item(s), click on the "Proceed to Checkout" button at the top or the bottom of the page. By clicking the "Proceed to checkout" button, you will be directed to an Account Creation page. A Pottermore account is required to purchase and receive content from the Pottermore Shop. You will be able to transfer content from your Pottermore account to your Amazon Kindle account once your purchase has been processed.

If you already have an existing Pottermore account, click on the "Already have a Pottermore Shop account? Sign in" link located just below the "Create Shop account" heading. Once you have filled in the form, click on the "Create my shop account" button located at the bottom of the page. A payment details page will appear where you can add a payment method to your account before confirming your order.

Once you have entered your payment details, you will be able to review your selected items before placing your order. If you are happy with your selection, click on the "Confirm and pay" button at the bottom of the page to complete your purchase.

Transferring Pottermore Content to Kindle

When you have successfully completed your purchase on Pottermore, you will have the option of linking your new Harry Potter content to your Amazon Kindle account. Pottermore allows you to download or link your content eight times for each purchase.  A single link to your Amazon account will add the books to your Kindle library where they can be downloaded to all Kindle or free Kindle reading applications registered to your account, without further reducing the number of downloads available from Pottermore.

To transfer your new content to your Amazon Kindle account, click on the "Download your books" button on the order confirmation page. You can also click on the "My Books" heading from the top navigation bar on Pottermore at any time to see a list of Harry Potter purchases that are available for download to your Kindle. On the "My Books" page, click on the "Select" button that appears underneath the eBook you wish to download to your Kindle.

Select Amazon Kindle from the available options. Pottermore will then guide you through the process of linking your Pottermore and Amazon Kindle accounts. When prompted, click on the "Yes, link my account" button.

A pop-up window will appear which will ask you to sign in with your Amazon.co.uk e-mail address and password.  Be sure to use the same Amazon account that you use for other Kindle purchases so that your books will be available in the same Library. If you do not have an existing Amazon account at the time of purchase, you can create one from the pop-up window before proceeding to the book download page.

When you've successfully linked your Pottermore and Amazon Kindle accounts, you will be asked to name your linked Amazon account on Pottermore. When you are happy with your selection, click the "Save" button. When prompted, click the "Send my book" button to transfer a copy of the title to your Kindle Library.

You will then see a message on Pottermore that indicates that your purchases have been added to your Kindle Library. We will send your purchased book(s) to every Kindle or Kindle app registered to your account. Click on "Go to Amazon" to visit your Kindle Library on the Manage Your Kindle page.

Redeeming a Gift from Pottermore

Pottermore allows you to purchase and send Harry Potter books and audiobooks as a gift to another person.

To purchase a gift on Pottermore, select the Ebooks or Digital Audio Books heading from the top navigation bar and click on the "Buy as a gift" link located underneath the "Add to Basket" button for the desired title.

A pop-up window will appear which will request the gift recipient's e-mail address and country of residence. If the recipient's current geographical location is subject to content restrictions, an error message will appear providing details of the issue. Once you have completed the form, click on the "Add instant gift to Basket" button to add the gift to your order.

When you have completed your purchase, Pottermore will send a gift code to the recipient by e-mail. The recipient will be able to redeem the gift code on Pottermore once they have set up their Pottermore account. Gifted content will be available as a download in the "My Books" section of the recipient's account.
