Getting Started with Kindle for PC
Compatible DevicesKindle for PC can be used on any personal computer running Windows XP with Service Pack 2+, Windows Vista, or Windows 7. Managing Your Kindle for PC RegistrationTo register Kindle for PC and access content from the Kindle store, you'll need to have an Amazon.co.uk account. Amazon.co.uk recognises most accounts established with other Amazon sites. Logging into your Amazon.co.uk account through Kindle for PC registers your device to your Amazon.co.uk account and gives you access to your existing Kindle library. After you log into your Amazon.co.uk account for the first time on Kindle for PC, you never need to log in again. Every time you access Kindle for PC, you'll be instantly connected to your Amazon.co.uk account and can access your Kindle library. To register with your Amazon.co.uk account:
Signing Out and DeregisteringWhen you deregister Kindle for PC, your Windows personal computer will no longer be automatically associated with your Amazon.co.uk account, no additional content can be downloaded from your Archived Items, and content previously downloaded cannot be accessed using Kindle for PC until you register again. Setting Your Kindle Payment MethodWhen you buy books or other items directly from the Kindle Store on your Windows personal computer, you're paying with the Default 1-Click Payment Method on your Amazon.co.uk account. Typically, this is the payment method associated with your default delivery address. For digital purchases, you can use a credit or debit card or Amazon Gift Certificates. Updating 1-Click Settings for Gift Certificate PurchasesYou're not required to have a credit or debit card on your Amazon.co.uk account to make digital purchases such as Kindle books, but you must establish a default 1-Click invoice address on your Amazon.co.uk account to use Amazon.co.uk Gift Certificates for digital purchases. If you don't already have a 1-Click invoice address on your account, follow the instructions below to add an address without entering a credit or debit card to your account. To add a 1-Click Invoice Address for Gift Certificate purchases:
Set the address as your default by clicking the link on the address labeled "Click here to make this your 1-Click default address." You may be prompted to associate a credit or debit card with the address, but entering one of these payment methods is not required.
