Managing Your Account Online

The items listed below are some of the Kindle for PC tasks you can manage online at the Manage Your Kindle page at http://www.amazon.co.uk/manageyourkindle.

Renaming or Deregistering a Device

You can't register Kindle for PC on the Manage Your Kindle page, but you can change the name of a registered device or deregister a device altogether. To learn how to register Kindle for PC, see Getting Started with Kindle for PC.

To change the name of a registered Kindle for PC application:

  1. Visit the Manage Your Kindle page.
  2. Locate your device in the "Your Computer and Other Mobile Device(s)" section.
  3. Click the "Edit Info" link.
  4. Enter a new device name and click the Update information button.

To deregister Kindle for PC:

  1. Visit the Manage Your Kindle page.
  2. Locate your device in the "Your Computer and Other Mobile Device(s)" section.
  3. Click the "Deregister" link.

Viewing and Changing Your Kindle Payment Method

The section of Manage Your Kindle titled "Your Default 1-Click Payment Method" displays the credit or debit card currently used for purchases you make in the Kindle Store.

To check or change your payment method:

  1. Visit the Manage Your Kindle page.
  2. Scroll down to the "Your Default 1-Click Payment Method" section.
  3. Click the "Edit" link next to your payment method and follow the on-screen instructions.
  4. Click the "Continue" button to verify your changes.

Delivering Library Content to a Device

The section of Manage Your Kindle titled "Your Orders" allows you to queue up items in your Kindle Library for delivery to your Kindle for PC application or another registered Kindle device. If the content is eligible for delivery to Kindle for PC, your registered application will appear in the "Deliver to . . ." pull-down menu.

To send archived items to Kindle for PC from Amazon.co.uk:

  1. Visit the Manage your Kindle page.
  2. Scroll to the "Your orders" section and locate the item you wish to download.
  3. Click on the "Deliver to" pull-down menu and select your Kindle for PC application.

If your PC is connected to the Internet, your book will download and appear on the Home screen the next time you open Kindle for PC.

Managing Your Synchronisation Settings

Whispersync automatically synchronises your bookmarks and your reading location among devices registered to the same Amazon.co.uk account. When you open a Kindle book you are also reading on another Kindle device or application, you are given the choice to go to the furthest page read. This ensures that you can easily pick up where you left off regardless of which device you are using.

Automatic Whispersync is enabled by default, but you can turn of synchronisation if you wish to manage it manually.

To view and change synchronization settings:

  1. Visit the Manage your Kindle page.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on the "Manage synchronisation between devices" link.
  3. Click the button to turn synchronisation "On" or "Off" in the box in the upper right-hand corner of the synchronisation page.
