General Information on the disposal of waste electrical and electronic equipment and waste batteries

To preserve, protect and improve the quality of the environment, protect health and utilize natural resources prudently, the European Union has adopted directives on waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and waste batteries.

These directives cover disposal of WEEE and waste batteries because these items may contain hazardous substances which, if exposed, may have a serious detrimental effect on the environment and health. WEEE and waste batteries must be specifically collected and treated by designated local waste facility centers and by collection schemes authorized by governmental authorities.

Do not discard these items with general household waste.

WEEE and waste batteries can often be disposed of free of charge at local municipal collection points.
