Amazon Cloud Player for iPhone and iPod Touch

With Amazon Cloud Player, you can play or download your Amazon Cloud Player music collection on your phone, tablet, and computer.

Finding and Playing Music

Within Cloud Player, you can access the music stored in your cloud and device libraries. You can switch between these two music libraries using the "Cloud" and "Device" tabs.

To view, play, or download your Cloud Player music, you must be signed in to your Amazon account and you must have a mobile or Wi-Fi network connection. Your Cloud Player music library will be empty if you have not yet imported music into Cloud Player from your computer or made any Amazon MP3 Store purchases. You may also be asked to authorise your device when you first sign in to the Cloud Player app.

Note: You must be signed into the Cloud Player application using the same Amazon account and password used to access your Cloud Player music from the web.

Finding your past Amazon MP3 purchases

Your eligible past Amazon MP3 purchases are automatically available in Cloud Player. If you do not see your past Amazon MP3 purchases in your "Purchases" playlist in the "Cloud" tab, go to the Amazon Cloud Player website and accept the Terms of Use.

Playing Your iTunes music

You can view and play your iTunes music (either side-loaded to your device via USB cable or downloaded from iTunes or iCloud) from your device library by going to the "Device" tab. Your device library will contain both music you've downloaded from Cloud Player, as well as the iTunes music you have stored on your device. If you update a playlist in your iTunes library, your playlist will have to be re-imported using the app Settings (gear icon on the upper-right) before your changes will be reflected.

Searching your music

Go to the "Cloud" or "Device" tab, depending on which you would like to search. Enter the name of the artist, album, or song in the search bar, which can be found by pulling the list down on the "Playlists", "Artists", "Albums", "Songs" or "Genres" tab. You can filter your results by playlist, artist, album, song, or genre using the tabs.

Browsing your music

Playing Music

Selecting and queuing the music you want to play

You can play your cloud and device music by tapping any song. If you tap a song from a page with a list of songs (e.g. playlist or album page), all of the songs within the list will be entered into the Now Playing queue.

Using playback controls

When you tap a song to play it, you'll see an album art view of your Now Playing queue. From here, you can use the previous, pause, and next buttons, enable and disable shuffle, and switch between no repeat, repeat all songs, and repeat the currently playing song. Additionally, you can move forward or backward in the currently playing song by tapping on the album art and dragging on the progress bar. To switch between album art and list views of your Now Playing queue, tap the button in the upper right of your Now Playing queue screen.

Once you have music in your Now Playing queue, you will see the currently playing song and previous/pause/next buttons in the controller at the bottom of each screen of the app. To go to the Now Playing queue album art or list views, tap the controller.

Playing music offline and mobile network data plan usage

In addition to playing music directly from the Cloud, you can also play music from your device when not connected to a strong Wi-Fi or mobile network connection. This will also reduce your mobile network data plan usage. To get music onto your device, download your music from the "Cloud" tab to your device. You are responsible for any mobile network data usage charges.

You can also restrict cloud streaming and download so that it only occurs over a Wi-Fi connection. To do this, go to your app Settings (gear icon in the upper right corner) and turn on "Download and stream only on Wi-Fi".

Creating and Managing Playlists

Creating a new playlist

Create a playlist by tapping "Create New Playlist" in the Playlists tab of either the cloud or device library; do so in the Cloud library if you want your playlist to contain cloud music and in the device library if you want to create your playlist to contain device music. You will be prompted to enter the name of your playlist and then you can add artists, albums, or songs to your playlist using the plus buttons. Tap Done when you are finished.

Adding music to your playlist

Add music to your playlist by side-swiping the playlist name and then tapping "Add Songs".

Rearranging or removing music from your playlist.

Go to the Playlists tab, tap the playlist you want to edit and tap "Edit this playlist" on the playlist page. You can rearrange songs in the playlist using the drag and drop buttons to the right of each song. You can remove music from your playlist by using the red buttons to the left of each song.

Deleting a playlist

Remove a playlist from your Playlists tab by side-swiping the playlist and selecting Delete. This will not delete these songs from your library.

Adding Music to Cloud Player

Any MP3 or AAC files added to Amazon Cloud Player will be available for playback and download using Cloud Player via the "Cloud" tab. You can add music to the cloud by purchasing music from the Amazon MP3 Store or by importing music to Cloud Player.

Deleting Music

Music can be deleted from your device library by side-swiping an album or song and selecting the delete option. If you accidentally delete an album or song, you can still find it in the Cloud if it is still saved there. You can delete Cloud music from your computer or tablet device using the Cloud Player website.

Downloading Music

You can download music in your Cloud library by tapping the grey downward arrow located in the upper right corner of each genre, album, artist, or song page, or by tapping the "Download all Songs" button on any playlist page. You can also side-swipe any genre, song, album, artist, or playlist and select the download option. Once your music is downloaded, you can find it in the device library.

Cloud Player Options and Preferences

Automatically downloading your latest purchases from the Cloud

Music cannot currently be purchased from the Cloud Player app, although you can choose to automatically download all future Amazon MP3 Store purchases from elsewhere that have been saved to the Cloud. Go to your app settings (gear icon on the upper right corner), then turn on "Auto-download Amazon MP3 purchases". All Amazon MP3 purchases saved in the Cloud from the past 90 days will also be downloaded. This setting is device-specific and does not automatically apply to other devices where you use Cloud Player.
