I started buying CVG around the time Lucky Dime Caper came out on the Master System. Bought it religiously for about 10 years along with the occasional copy of Mean Machines Sega or Nintendo Magazine System. Then CVG started to go downhill very quickly, giving any WWF game 5 stars, once they gave Dreamcast Royal Rumble 5 stars and some other classics 3s and 4s in that issue I knew it was time to move on.Didn't buy another mag for ages, occasionally dipped into Edge but their reviews were usually way off the mark and they wrote as if they were trying to sound as intellectual as possible yet they said very little of worth. I got into GamesTM a few years back and now never looked back. Their reviews are almost always spot on and they're written in a way that even if I disagree they always justify their scores and give me an impression of whether I'd still like the game.Online is good for when I'm looking for something specific but GamesTM gives me a good update on the industry as a whole which I don't think I'd have if I stuck to the occasional online stuff. The quality of writing is also streets ahead of the majority of online writing too.

I remember buying a copy of gamesmaster the month after the Wii came out. It had a 2 page spread of the devastation people had caused in their homes by flinging the wii controllers all over the place. Lots of broken windows/tvs and black eyes, it sure gave me a chuckle.

I used to have a subscription to PCZone, back when Charlie Brooker wrote for them and the infamous magazine where he vowed to eat his own 4rse.

I remember my first gaming magazine; OPM 34. It had an "exclusive" cover story about Spyro The Dragon, details on up and coming games like Driver, Future Cop LAPD and a game condemed to the annals of history Metal Gear... something or other.£4.99 seemed an extortionate amount (still does) it was two and a half hours babysitting money or or nearly a weeks paper round money. I've still got it though wedged inbewteen a Freud reader and mid/late 90's gentlemans reading material!

I bought GamesTM yesterday, I like that one the best.I rarely buy mags mainly due to the price hikes in the last 5 years. I still have my July 2007 Xbox World (with a Halo 3 Beta preview and a preview of the 'upcoming' Call of Duty 4 no less). Big writing on the front says £2.95. Now it's £5. I don't like spending £5 on news I can get for free.

I still buy OPM and sometimes grab Games(tm) from the local market for £1.50 (New issues probably fell off back of a lorry).I like OPM for the simple fact I get the demo discs and give them to my nephew. Even though there are tons of websites with hundreds of screenshots, videos etc I still like to have a magazine to read on longer bus/car journeys.I also get Retro gamer every month on subscription. It's pretty good and you can get some in depth interviews and making of guides for some of the best (and worst) in classic gaming.

Now and again I pick up edge - the writing is always decent I find especially if you ignore the scores on reviews!I read PSM3 monthly - the guys who write for it are totally unbias and while I don't agree with every opinion they are honest at least. They have a decent podcast too.I started buying games mags for the ZX81 which used to publish the programs for games which you would then copy into your ZX81 (and by copy I mean type the program in code by code!) then run and play a crude version of sspace invaders!

Must admit I'm not as avid a reader of this as I used to be but unlike to read the band interviews and letters section and also the album reviews"I'm the exact same. Been subscribing for about 7 years but recently I just flick through it. Been meaning to cancel my subscription but never seem to get round to it.I bought a copy of Gamesmaster a few weeks ago and thought it was a really good read. First game mag I had bought for a few years but it had enough decent reading in it for a full nightshift which suprised me.
