Being a male in my early sixties I found I was drawn mostly to male authors but Rose Tremain is an exception. The women are generally stronger characters but Rose has a genuine empathy and an understanding for the weaker male that avoids being patronising. I have read all her novels except Restoration which I'm saving up for when times are hard because when there are no more novels left I know I will feel bereft. All power to her pen and may she spin her yarns well into her old age.

Hello A. Duncan. I've just come across your post, two years later, but noticed that this is being tracked, so I expect it's probably you and hopefully, you will see my post. I too am a fan of Rose Tremain. I hope by now that you have read the very excellent Restoration and it's equally excellent sequel Merivel: A Man of His Time. I've just discovered that Rose Tremain has a new book out on 6th November, 2014, so not too long to wait for her next: The American Lover. Best wishes and enjoy your reading!
