Georgie Thompson Answers Your Questions

Sky Sports presenter and debut author Georgie Thompson joined the Amazon.co.uk Kindle team live on Twitter on May 31, 2012 to talk about her book The Twitter Diaries and answer questions from her fans.

Amazon.co.uk: Welcome Georgie. Thanks for joining us today.

Georgie Thompson: Hello all! Ask away!

Amazon.co.uk: If you could appear in any movie, past or present, which one would it be?

Thompson: How about "The Twitter Diaries" the film as an extra?!

Amazon.co.uk: Would you ever cut your SUPER LONG hair into a @skysarahjane style bob?

Thompson: I did do once before and I cried for a bit afterwards.

Amazon.co.uk: Who do you think will win the F1 Drivers' championship?

Thompson: It's so wide open at the moment it's hard to call. I say Lewis Hamilton.

Amazon.co.uk: How would you describe "The Twitter Diaries" in 3 words?

Thompson: This summer's read?!

Amazon.co.uk: Who is your favourite singer/band?

Thompson: Olly Murs because he bought the book before any others I know of! After that Adele!

Amazon.co.uk: What's the worst advice you have ever been given?

Thompson: My career adviser told me never to pursue a career in television...

Amazon.co.uk: What was the funniest moment you had while at Sky Sports News?

Thompson: Getting picked up and thrown around by The Big Show wrestler was interesting. Also stitching up Jonesy with a vuvuzela!

Amazon.co.uk: Snog, marry or avoid out of Jeff Sterling, Phil Thompson and Chris Kamara?

Thompson: Is none of the above an option?! Also who is Jeff Sterling?! Haha.

Amazon.co.uk: Are you coming to Bavaria race in Dublin on Sunday?

Thompson: I'll be recovering from a hen night so no but at least someone's mum is happy!

Amazon.co.uk: Bacon or sausage sarnies?

Thompson: In an ideal world I'd have both but if you're making me choose then bacon everytime. By the way team Imogen Lloyd Webber is joining in my twinterview chat so if you want to #askTuesdayandStella feel free...

Amazon.co.uk: Fantastic! Welcome Imogen. We'll be sure to send some questions your way! Which football team do you support?

Thompson: I'm guessing you're an Arsenal fan. For me...Fulham.

Amazon.co.uk: Who first came up with the idea to write "The Twitter Diaries?"

Thompson: That would be me and a light bulb moment I had a three am to write a book entirely made out of tweets.

Amazon.co.uk: If you could give a hair makeover to any of the SSN girls, who and what would you choose?

Thompson: Not sure the SSN beauties need any sort of a makeover but possibly @katekingtv does in our book. Imogen?

Imogen Lloyd Webber: @katekingtv probably needs a makeunder, no?!

Thompson: Touché! (éclat)

Amazon.co.uk: What's the best thing about living in NYC Imo and London GT?

Thompson: Best thing about living in London are the black cabs. Without 'em I wouldn't have made this!

Lloyd Webber: Best thing about living in NYC is that the glass is always half full...

Amazon.co.uk: Will you ever return to Sky Sports News?

Thompson: No comment... Ooo...

Amazon.co.uk: Is there a second book planned?

Lloyd Webber: According to GT we're writing TTD #2!!

Thompson: Yes! We came up with our opening lines just last week. Naturally we're calling it The Twitter Diaries #2...

Amazon.co.uk: Who do you think will win the Euros and how far do you think England will get?

Thompson: Roy Hodgson did a great job for Fulham. Now Gary Neville is involved sky's the limit!

Amazon.co.uk: Is "The Twitter Diaries" an autobiography?

Thompson: It's 100% fiction inspired by our everyday lives. Promise.

Lloyd Webber: Absolutely not on any level!

Amazon.co.uk: Do you miss being on "They Think It's All Over"?

Thompson: Not really seeing as I was on that other, better sports comedy panel show "A League of Their Own" with James Corden and co...

Amazon.co.uk: Best pundit on Sky Sports F1? I'm going for Anthony Davidson.

Thompson: So am I as I have to work with him most of the time. Love my Skypad pal!

Amazon.co.uk: Why did you choose to publish on digital first?

Thompson: It seemed to make sense as the basis of the book is a digital medium, Twitter. In August it's out in paperback too!

Amazon.co.uk: Would you ever go on Celeb Big Brother? Just to hear the Geordie bloke say 'Georgie Thompson'?

Thompson: I'd rather stick pins in my eyes! No offence to those who have or would.

Amazon.co.uk: When I went to Monaco for the first time I got a surprise, I thought it was smaller than it appears on TV. What do you think?

Thompson: When I first went to Monaco I thought the same and also that I'd quite like to live here!

Amazon.co.uk: Ever been treated like Sam Brick and had your taxi fare etc paid by a random bloke?

Thompson: I wish! That Sam Brick gets all the luck doesn't she? She's everything @TuesdayFields and @StellaCavill aren't!

Amazon.co.uk: We have time for one more question. Favourite book of all time (apart from "The Twitter Diaries" obviously!)

Thompson: Apart from "The Twitter Diaries", "Shantaram". I was banging on about it for weeks after and probably will be again now!

Lloyd Webber: Fatherland by Robert Harris--inspired me to start writing.

Amazon.co.uk: Georgie, Imogen, a big thank you to you both for taking the time to answer our questions. Any parting words for your fans?

Thompson: Firstly thank you to everyone who has bought the book and secondly carry on the conversation at http://www.thetwitterdiaries.com

Lloyd Webber: A massive thank you to everyone who has bought the book --hope you had as much fun reading it as we did writing it!

The Twitter Diaries: 2 Cities, 1 Friendship, 140 Characters

The Twitter Diaries

A lot can happen in a year. It turns out just 140 characters can change everything.

Tuesday, a sports reporter and Stella, a men's shoe designer, are Brit 30-somethings who are introduced in NYC on NYE by a mutual friend and strike up an instant bond.

Over the next 365 days, Tuesday and Stella put the world to rights, one tweet at a time. Pen pals for the 21st century, their lives are separated by an ocean but united over a social network. From Melbourne to Monaco to Magaluf, the girls flirt and fall out with sportsmen, movie stars and TV presenters.

The Twitter Diaries is a tale all generations can relate to, whether they are one of the world's 140 million and counting transfixed Twitter users or not.
