In the Spotlight... Simon Pegg
There are some actors whose body of work really catches our eye. But you may not know what other films that person has been in - and we don't want to leave you in the dark... So we thought we'd dig out the back catalogue of these people and bring them to your attention. You can visit our In the Spotlight... page to see who else we're raving about.
Simon Pegg In the Spotlight
Why Simon Pegg? There are some people who can pen brilliant scripts, and there are those who can act them out. There are some people who can make everyone laugh, and there are those that think making a horror/comedy/zombie/romantic film will work. Well, Simon Pegg is all of those and more. He first came to the fore in the quite brilliant sitcom Spaced, which he created, co-wrote and starred in. He was also one of the main leads in the hilarious sketch show, Big Train. He made the transition from TV shows to the big screen look like a duck falling into a pond. His breakthrough flick, Shaun Of The Dead, gained instant cult status and launched him into the spotlight, and his latest release, Hot Fuzz, only stands to confirm what a genius the guy is. --Tom Lawrance

He's Great In...
Hot Fuzz: He's a cop, and good at his job... So good, in fact, that this 'by-the-book' policeman is making the rest of the Met look bad. So he's shipped off to a quiet West Country town where there's almost no crime at all – but, as luck would have it, there's an awful lot of accidents...
Big Nothing: Simon plays Gus, a scam artist who presents Charlie (David Schwimmer) with the perfect plan - blackmail a Reverend who's frequently turned up in a company database of visitors to illegal porn-sites. It all goes wrong as the Reverend dies on them, setting off a chain-reaction of unfortunate events that makes it the longest night of their lives.
Mission Impossible 3: He plays a geek, sorry, laboratory technician called Benji who works for the Impossible Mission Force. Pegg is brilliant as he portrays the bumbling Benji who, while trying to avoid attention from colleagues, helps wanted-man Ethan Hunt run through the streets of Shanghai over the phone.
Shaun Of The Dead: This zom-rom-com was a huge hit in the UK, and it propelled Pegg into the big time. In this film he plays appliance salesman Shaun who is going nowhere in life. Just as he tries to sort things out, London happens to be hit by an uprising of the undead. Step forward Shaun, who takes the audience on a rip-roaring, limb-ripping, raucous adventure like no other.

Doctor Who: Series 1: In the episode Long Game, he played The Editor - the mysterious manager of space station Satellite 5, an orbital news station.
Simon is godfather of Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow's daughter, Apple.
