Notes: the folowing codes will turn your DVD Player or Recorder into what is called "region-free". If you require the player to be a single region, for example region 1, then simply repeat the process and replace the "0" with a "1". This may be required if you have trouble playing DVDs purchased from outside the UK that have Region Code Enhancement technology on them. These titles are in a minority and you will find a substantial amount of titles will play without the need to change region. Our recommendation is that you set the player to region 0 and change to a specific region when the need arises.

Samsung DVD Player

Multi-Region Codes

Hack 1; Samsung 511, 709, 809, 909, 611, 811:

1. Make sure the player is switched on, and is at the Samsung logo screen.

2. Also check the tray is shut and that there's no disc in the player.

3. Now press the REPEAT button on the remote, followed by a five digit code.

4. This code is different depending on what region your player is *currently* set to: R1 - 29334 R2 - 38767 R3 - 56732 R4 - 76884 R5 - 53814 R6 - 24462 So for example if you have an R2 player, press REPEAT-3-8-7-6-7.

5. If you've done this correctly (and your player is compatible with the hack), you should see a number at the top left corner of the screen corresponding to the current region.

6. Now, pressing any number from 1 to 6 will change to the corresponding region. Or, press 9 for "auto-region" mode.

7. Next, press OPEN/CLOSE to open the tray, followed by Standby (or DVD POWER) on the remote to close it and put the player into Standby mode.

8. The next time you turn your player on, the new region will be set. Don't forget that if you want to hack it again, you'll need to use a different code, as listed above. If it's currently set to "region 9", use the code for the last *proper* region you set it to.

Hack 2; DVD-707, 807/907:

1. Insert a region 1 DVD. The player will then attempt to load it.

2. The tray should then open itself up and the display should read 'NO DISC'.

3. Press the following: DVD/TV, TIME SEARCH, 1, 1, and 9.

4. Load up your region 1 disc.

5. If it doesn't load, repeat the hack with the key press changed to DVD/TV, TIME SEARCH, 2, 0, 0. The DVD player should now be multi-region.

6. To change your player back repeat the hack except using a region 2 disc.

Hack 3; DVD-HD870, DVD-HD860/XEU:

To convert this player to Multi-Region playback

1. Press the Repeat button on your remote control NB: Do not confuse this with the Repeat A-B button.

2. Press the buttons 5, 7, 5, 3 and 8 on your remote control, in order one at a time.

3. The numbers 02 will be displayed on the top left of your onscreen display.

4. Press the 1 button on your remote control for region 1, 2 for region 2, and so on, or 9 for multi-region playback NB: The above step may be time sensitive and need to be performed quickly.

5. Press the Open button on your remote control NB: The above step may be time sensitive and need to be performed quickly.

6. After 15 seconds have elapsed, power off your player and then power on your player.

To convert this player to Multi-Region playback if the above does not work.

1. Press the Repeat button on your remote control NB: Do not confuse this with the Repeat A-B button.

2. Press the buttons 3, 8, 7, 6 and 7 on your remote control, in order one at a time.

3. The numbers 02 will be displayed on the top left of your onscreen display.

4. Press the 1 button on your remote control for region 1, 2 for region 2, and so on, or 9 for multi-region playback NB: The above step may be time sensitive and need to be performed quickly.

5. Press the Open button on your remote control NB: The above step may be time sensitive and need to be performed quickly.

6. After 15 seconds have elapsed, power off your player and then power on your player.

Hack 4; BD-P1000/XEU:

1. Make sure the player is switched on, and is at the Samsung logo screen.

2. Also check the tray is shut and that there's no disc in the player.

3. Now press the REPEAT button on the remote, followed by a five digit code.

5. If you've done this correctly (and your player is compatible with the hack), you should see a number at the top left corner of the screen corresponding to the current region.

6. Now, pressing any number from 1 to 6 will change to the corresponding region. Or, press 9 for "auto-region" mode.

7. Next, press OPEN/CLOSE to open the tray, followed by Standby (or DVD POWER) on the remote to close it and put the player into Standby mode.

Hack 5; DVD-VR336:

To change the region on this player

1. Press the DVD button on your remote control to select DVD mode

2. Press the Menu button on your remote control

3. Press the 5 button on your remote control

4. Press the 7 button on your remote control

5. Press the 5 button on your remote control

6. Press the 3 button on your remote control

7. Press the 8 button on your remote control

8. The currently selected region will be indicated on the onscreen display

9. Press the 1 button on your remote control for region 1, the 2 button for region 2, and so on, or the 9 button for multi-region playback

10. Press the Open button on your remote control to open the drive tray

11. Power off your DVD player

12. Power on your DVD player

Hack 6; DVD-HR734:

1. Press the Repeat button on your remote control NB: Do not confuse this with the Repeat A-B button

2. If your player was purchased in Region 1:

Press the buttons 2, 9, 3, 3 and 4 on your remote control, in order one at a time If it was purchased in Region 2:

Press the buttons 5, 7, 5, 3 and 8 on your remote control, in order one at a time For Region 3 players:

Press the buttons 5, 6, 7, 3 and 2 on your remote control, in order one at a time For Region 4 players:

Press the buttons 7, 6, 8, 8 and 4 on your remote control, in order one at a time For Region 5 players:

Press the buttons 5, 3, 8, 1 and 4 on your remote control, in order one at a time For Region 6 players:

Press the buttons 2, 4, 4, 6 and 2 on your remote control, in order one at a time

3. The numbers 02 or similar will be displayed on the top left of your onscreen display

4. Press the 1 button on your remote control for region 1, 2 for region 2, and so on, or 9 for multi-region playback NB: The above step may be time sensitive and need to be performed quickly

5.Open, then close the DVD-tray

Hack 7; DVD-HR733/HR735:

1.Machine powered on, no disc in tray

2.Press 0 five times at approx 1 second intervals

3.Press the "REPEAT" button (NOT the "repeat a-b")

4.Enter the following sequence - 5,7,5,3,8,9 5.As you press the 8 you should see an '8' appear briefly on the screen in a triangle. 6Open and close the tray, and there you have it, multiregion

Hack 8; DVD-V5600U :

1.Press the DVD button on your remote (the Samsung logo appears)

2.Press the SUBTITLE button on your remote

3.With your remote enter the code: 57538

4.The current region is displayed on the top left corner of the screen. (e.g. 2)

5.Press 9 on your remote (Region free)

6.Again press the SUBTITLE button on your remote

7.Open & close the tray twice using your remote

8.Power off and then on the unit

9.Enjoy the Region free player

If your player is NOT Region 2 by default then you will need to Substitute the Numbers in Step 3 with the ones Below.

Region codes:

RC 1: 2, 9, 3, 3, 4

RC 2: 3, 8, 7, 6, 7 (or 5, 7, 5, 3, 8 )

RC 3: 5, 6, 7, 3, 2

RC 4: 7, 6, 8, 8, 4

RC 5: 5, 3, 8, 1, 4

RC 6: 2, 4, 4, 6, 2

For Example if your Player was Purchased in Australia ( Which is Region 4) then Step 3 would read : -

3. With your remote enter the code: 76884

Hack 9; DVD-VR330:

1.Turn DVD player on without a disc inside

2.Hit 'MENU' on remote control

3.Enter code: 57538

4.The current region code will be displayed in the top-left corner

5.For region free press 9 (region 2 UK, region 1 US etc)

6.Power OFF and power ON

Hack 10; DVD-R128/R129:

Using the remote control carry out the following steps:

1.Press the Menu button and setup menu will appear on the screen.

2.Press the 5,7,5,3,8 (Note: nothing will appear on the screen when you are entering these numbers.)

3.The current region code will be displayed on the top left of the screen.

4.Press the 1 for region 1, 2 for region 2, etc.. or just press button 9 to enable multi region play back.

5.Press Menu button to return to setup screen

6.Press Menu again to exit the setup screen.

Hack 11; DVD-HR730:

Using the remote:

1.Press the “0” button 5 times at approximately one second intervals;

2.Press the “REPEAT” button, (please ensure that it is the REPEAT button and NOT the “REPEAT A-B button).

3.Press the following sequence of numbers, 7,6,8,8,4 and 9, (76884 is the sequence for region 4 and as the 4 is pressed a small rectangle with a figure 4 in it will appear in the top LHS of the screen for a very short time, if number 9 is pressed during the time the number 4 is being displayed the 4 will change to a 9, however if you delay the 4 will disappear and the only effect of pressing 9 will be to change the TV channel. Hence it is imperative that you press the full 6 digit number sequence without any more than 1 second delay or so between digits).

4.Open and then close the tray.

If you followed the above your machine should now be region free, if it is not you probably took too long over entering the string of digits as I did the first time I tried it.

If your machine is not region 4 I would assume that the sequences of numbers contained elsewhere in the list of hacks for Samsung players will work for you. See below:

1.If your player is a Region 1 machine, the sequence of numbers to press is 2, 9, 3, 3, 4 and 9 :

2.If your player is a Region 2 machine, the sequence of numbers to press is 5, 7, 5, 3, 8 and 9 :

Hack 12; DVD-R135:

To change the region on this player

1. Press the Menu button on your remote control

2. Press the 5 button on your remote control

3. Press the 7 button on your remote control

4. Press the 5 button on your remote control

5. Press the 3 button on your remote control

6. Press the 8 button on your remote control

7. The currently selected region will be indicated on the onscreen display

8. Press the 1 button on your remote control for region 1, the 2 button for region 2, and so on, or the 9 button for multi-region playback

9.Press the Menu button on your remote control

10.Press the Menu button on your remote control

Hack 13; DVD-V6700S:

1) Turn on

2) on the remote press subtitle button

3) on the remote press enter , 5 , 7 , 5 , 3 , 8 .

4) region 2 will appear in the left corner, press 9 to make region free, press the subtitle button

5) open and close tray twice

6) power down then back up and your machine is multi-region
