5.0 out of 5 stars Assemble The Empire, 16 Aug. 2002
This review is from: Wiretap Scars (Audio CD)
Assemble the empire, well these guys are certainly going to assemble a huge fanbase. If you havent heard of Sparta, they are one half of the legendary At The Drive-in. I know many critics have accused Sparta of cashing in on the ATD tag, but thats really not the case, especially with this LP. As soon as the drums kick in on the first track (and their first single) 'Cut Your Ribbon' you know your in for a treat. The album swings and swoops with creative guitar riffs, incredible drumming and emotional vocals. The whole album really doesnt have a bad song, everything seems to 'fit'. Saying this there are a couple of stand-out songs, 'MYE', 'Glasshouse Tarot' and the superb 'Echodyne Harmonic'. This album will probaly appeal to those who liked ATD or punk/emo. It really is a great achievement by Sparta, who in my books are destined for big things.
