Another Perfect Day
Another Perfect Day
Price: £5.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Misjudged album, 30 April 2014
This review is from: Another Perfect Day (Audio CD)
This is simply amazing stuff . "Iron fist" showed signs of stagnation and then...came Brian Robertson . I don't care if he had...short hair (lemmy has stated that he hated that) or if he was not metal enough , here he owns the album with his fantastic, great, unbelievable solos . Seriously the title track has some of the best solos I have ever listened to a metal album . Lemmy' swill bass playing combined with robertson's sound created something special . Too bad that Robertson left and his replacements weren't even 1% as good guitarists as him. After that we got a thousand Motörhead albums that sound exactly the same (esp. after Wurzel left the band and phil Campbell stayed as the only guitarist ) . For me phil cambell is by far the weakest guitarist Motörhead ever had and sadly the longest staying member of the band, other than lemmy of course .

1.0 out of 5 stars Awful, 30 April 2014
This review is from: Adimiron Black (Audio CD)
Gehenna was a more black metal version of Dimmu Borgir (darkness enthroned triumphant period) without the shiny production, though the sound in their 3 spells was quite good . After the great "malice" they decided, inexplicably since symphonic black metal was becoming increasingly popular, to, become just an "extreme" metal band with no real direction , thrash, death, black all rolled into one for a horrible mix. This album was the beginning of the end for Gehenna as a proper band and their next one "murder" , which was even worse , would essentially ...murder the band .
So a band that could have been something in the black metal boom turned into a shell of itself and the downfall started with "adimiron black"

1.0 out of 5 stars This is not art, 11 Mar. 2014
What bothers me in this film is that it is , somehow , considered a commentary on fascism and...art . The truth is that this film is just desand's work in a different environment . The acting is hilarious, esp from the villain characters that act like in a grindhouse movie , some of the scenes are hilariously grotesque (like tapping the girls' behind all night so they can produce a lot of s*** in the morning ) , the cinematography is mediocre and the only good thing is the music . Pasolini was a known degenerate who was passing his fantasies on his films and that is considered by some critics' circles art just like Lars Von trier . Mind you that I have no problem with disturbing movies at all and I have watched way worse than salo and I have a strong stomach .
The problem is that this abomination is a mockery to movies that truly show what fascism , in its various forms, really is (like some of kostas gavras' movies ) .
You want to watch the fantasies of a person like Pasolini , then this movie is for you . You want to watch movies that make you think about them after their finale , then try something else .

5.0 out of 5 stars Their best since "mental funeral", 5 Mar. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Headless Ritual The (Audio CD)
Autopsy is a unique case in the metal world . Their style is supposedly death metal yet they differ completely from what we usually call death metal. They started their career with 2 fantastic albums , with "mental funeral" being possibly the scariest metal album ever and then they started sounding silly with small , almost hardcore, songs in "acts of the unspeakable" before completely turning into a joke with "shitfun" .
Thankfully with their reunion they have returned to the style of their first 2 albums with big songs , many doomy parts and fantastic solos . "Macabre eternal" was a fantastic return to form and "the headless ritual" is even better. With a heavier production and the usual fantastic musicianship from this band they deliver . What I love in this band is that behind their horror image and extreme lyrics you have a band with fantastic musicians . Reifert is a great drummer and a unique singer and their guitarists can play extremely well with really atmospheric solos .
Autopsy is not for everyone , even for death metal fans since their style is quite different to the usual death metal sound but for their fans this reunion has been a blessing . Now I can't wait for their next album which is coming out shortly !!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic game ., 25 Feb. 2014
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This game was robbed from reviewers. It's an excellent slash em up with the best graphics currently available on any console or pc . This game is the first to do the "cgi real time " graphics , something that will be seen again in the order 1888 . The game is short but you will want to finish it more than once just to marvel at the wonderful graphics and bombastic sound .

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, 25 Feb. 2014
one word of advice for hammer lovers : just get a multi region DVD player and grab the universal collection . There you will find "the brides of dracula " in its correct aspect and with a better picture quality than this bluray .

5.0 out of 5 stars Maiden's best album since SSOASS, 13 Aug. 2010
This review is from: The Final Frontier (Audio CD)
I was really surprised listening to TFF. I have been a fan of their post reunion stuff (hated albums like "No prayer" or "fear of the dark") and i felt that AMOLAD really approached the quality of their eighties stuff but with TFF they have created an album that can sit proudly next to SIT and SSOASS (their experimental period with the classic line up ). This is an album that will divide fans just like SIT did in the eighties, coming after the monumental Powerslave ,because it really has many unique elements.

The first part of the album is just good old Maiden, the sound that the fans feel very comfortable with ,the hardcore heavy metal songs (alchemist, mother of mercy), the metal ballad (coming home), the galloping single (el dorado) and the melodic Smith-written tune (Final frontier). So far so good ....a very good Maiden post reunion album thus far.

It's the second part of the album (that is closer to 2/3 in duration) that surprises. Even though the melodic intros are very similar to AMOLAD this is where the similarities end. The songs are mid to up-tempo (with the exception of WTWWB) with a ton of changes in each song . Some of the changes have obvious 70's references and psychedelic/blues elements , the guitars are all over the place and crazy stuff is happening. Iron Maiden haven't sounded this fresh since 25 years ago. The complexity of these songs is overwhelming .The mood is really melancholic , not dark and ominus like AMOLAD just melancholic and the lyrics seem to share the theme of a long journey coming to an end. I hope this sin't the case for the band cause they have a lot to offer based on this brilliant album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Far superior to ' monotheist ', 25 Mar. 2010
This review is from: Eparistera Daimones (Audio CD)
Fantastic debut album from warrior's new band and perfect for fans of celtic frost. In fact this sounds closer to classic CF than monotheist did !! Extremely heavy and dark with the best vocals warrior has putted in any album . There are moments that remind almost every phase of warrior's career from hellhammerish moments to vanity/nemesis stuff , all sounding coherent and resulting in a metal masterpiece . A must and possibly metal album of the year.

The Incredible Hulk: The Complete First Season [DVD]
The Incredible Hulk: The Complete First Season [DVD]
Dvd ~ Bill Bixby
Price: £4.99

5.0 out of 5 stars An incredible series and an incredible transfer, 14 Dec. 2007
This show is fantastic. Not really what you would expect from a "superhero" show, this is more like "The fugitive" meets "Dr. Jeckyl and mr. Hyde" (only with mr. Hyde not being actually evil) and has a dark and sad tone.

What impressed me more was the image quality of this set. Unlike other Universal boxsets of old series that i own (like Kolchak: the night stalker) which are pretty awful with no digital restoration, the incredible Hulk looks amazing. Played on a good upscaling DVD player this seventies show is a sight to behold:Really sharp and clean and with vivid images.

So 5/5 for the actual and 5/5 for picture quality. You can't go wrong with this great boxset of this incredible series.
