After hearing 'Set Sail Tomorrow' a few years ago I thought I should give Montt Mardie a listen. This album is built up of tracks from his previous records 'Drama' and double album 'Clocks/Pretender' and showcases a variety of genres including duets, acoustic tracks and big band elements. This record is pretty great and has been played frequently over the past 2 months.
Stand out tracks are 'Set Sail Tomorrow', '1969', 'How to kill a mockingbird' and 'The windmill turns all the same'.
Listen out for tributes to The Cure's 'Boys don't cry' - outro on '1969' and Meatloaf's 'I would do anything for love' on 'Paddy (you won't get what you deserve)'. The hidden track (so, essentially this has 18 songs) is 'My girlfriend is in the grand prix finals).
It's worth noting that older tracks, from 'Drama', are new recordings although these follow the orignials completely.
I will be getting his more recent album Skaizerkite. Highly recommended.
