4.0 out of 5 stars Good value for money, 15 July 2014

On the whole a well detailed model with panel lines engraved to just the right degree. Unlike some other Revell 1/32 offerings, there is no engine, no removable panels to reveal details and no pilot figure. The decals are abundant (I lost count at around 70 for the early version of the G6) and of good quality, however swastikas for the tail fin are not included and will need to be bought from a specialist supplier. Sadly, the instructions contain a number of mistakes and are unclear in other places. Two variants are offered: early and late versions of the G6 model. In some places there is a choice of two parts. Some show which part is for which version but others give you an option but no information about what the option relates to. Also, the order of of actions to be taken is not always the best so some care is needed.

Overall, for the experienced modeller this kit represents good value for money.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Size Screen - Average Performance, 13 Dec 2013
I've owned two of these. The first failed within its guarantee period and was replaced with the same model. The second one is now failing after 3 or 4 year's use. To be fair to the product, I use it in fairly hostile conditions. Specifically, it sits on my south facing kitchen window sill, over the sink. The product failure/shortness of life may well be related to that. It should also be noted that it gets used virtually every day. My overall rating is therefore based on the product performance not the product life.

The screen is good both in quality and size of image. The sound, via the built-in speakers has plenty of volume but is of limited quality. The controls on the console are limited to fast forward/backward, next chapter forward/backward, play, pause, stop and volume. All the other functions are on the remote control, these include things like audio options; screen options for brightness, ratio and contrast; subtitles; display and menu options, etc. So if you happen to misplace the remote control (or leave it at home if you're using the player on the move) then you only have limited control options.

Battery life is OK but would not allow you to play really long films. It will run off the mains but you cannot recharge the battery at the same time.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fine Starter Set, 29 Aug 2013

A good range of starter or limited palette colours and the quality is good, as you would expect from Winsor and Newton. A good introduction to gouache or a useful basic set for occasional use.

For those not familiar with gouache, they are water soluble and generally strongly opaque.

Highly recommended.

This review is from: No Reservations [DVD] [2007] (DVD)
Workaholic and stressed chef (Katherine Zeta Jones) finds herself having to look after her sister's daughter and deal with a new sous chef who has a much more relaxed attitude to life.

It is well acted with good chemistry between the leading players and with well constructed story line. The overall result is an excellent light romantic comedy.

The product arrived quickly in good condition, well packed. A fraction of the cost compared to the tiny quantities supplied by the likes of Schwartz (where 35g will cost you in the region of 2). Great value for money.

This was bought second hand for 2.81 in very good condition. It is up to the usual standard of a Haynes manual and therefore very useful. It gave me clear instructions and photographs for the task that I needed to undertake. I would recommend the relevant Haynes manual to any car owner, since they not only contain information about how to repair your car but also have information a service intervals (and what needs to be done), fault diagnosis (useful even if you are going to take your car to a garage) and routine service items such as tyre pressures, oil levels, how to change a wheel if you get a flat tyre, etc.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Best Way To See The Stories On Screen, 28 Jun 2013
The Millennium Trilogy - the Extended Version contains an extra two hours of footage and appears to be edited as a mini series, with each of the films split into two parts. Each part is about an hour and a half long giving a total playing time of about nine hours. There is also a separate bonus materials disc.

The films (or episodes) have two playing modes - Original Swedish soundtrack with English subtitles and an English dubbed version. The quality of the dubbed version is quite high in terms of ambient sounds (a problem with all dubbed films), although when played through a better quality sound system it does become more obvious. Interestingly, the translations for the subtitles and the dubbed words are different and on the whole, the dubbed version seems to make slightly better sense.

In themselves the films are excellent, however, in terms of bringing the books to the screen they are not quite so successful. Inevitably, even in the extended versions, the films have had to compress and simplify the stories and introduce various devices to get round the narrative contained in the books. This was done best with "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" which stays pretty true to the spirit of the original book. More liberties are taken with the subsequent books and there are some changes to plotlines that are harder to account for. These are at their worst in the final part: "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest" where a degree of conflict between the "Millennium's" staff is introduced towards the end and where the courtroom sequence has substantial differences from the book and is in places deeply unconvincing. I assume that the changes were added to try and add more tension to the film; in the first case successfully, in the second not so. Nonetheless, the films remain excellent overall. The casting, lighting, photography, editing and acting are all first class and this Extended Version is probably the best way to see the stories on screen.
