The Good Psychopath's Guide to Success
The Good Psychopath's Guide to Success

4.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating Read!, 2 Jun 2014
Andy McNab has been there and done that, from the SAS selection process to leading his troop in Iraq that suddenly went wrong. Capture and torture for him and several others. The man has seen an awful lot of things that would make most men whince!

Yet he has gone on to lead a very successful career as a writer and in other lines of work.

How? The answer lies in this book and it tells us he is a Psychopath, but one who can resist the urge to just start killing for the sake of killing.

It then proceeds to help us see that this ruthlessness, hardened, cold heartedness has led to his achievements in life.
It encourages us to recognise that the phrase Psychopath has us straight away thinking of serial killers when in fact Doctors, Lawyers and Bankers plus many more may also be labeled with the same title.

Not sure I agreed with everything it stated but it is a very insightful book and can indeed encourage us to be more decisive and courageous when the need may arise.

Definitely worth a look at, as it is a different approach to some of the self help books you see around.

4.0 out of 5 stars Funny!, 7 Nov 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
Loved it! It is a great book and also a funny, down to earth read!
Made for a UK market the book itself highlights this by saying that other self help books say things like wake up and view the day as a "opportunity day" which if you are living in south California where the sun shines most of the time I am sure everyday does seem like an opportunity day.
Where as here in the UK in the middle of winter when it is pitch black outside and minus 3 it doesn't seem so much like an opportunity day! :) We just want to stay warm not go and conquer the world!
It gives great advice about how to just see things that little bit more optimistic!
It really has some great anecdotes and lessons that one and all can learn from, and did I mention it is Funny! (seriously funny!)

Your New Job Title is "Accomplice": A Dilbert Book (Dilbert Collections)
Your New Job Title is "Accomplice": A Dilbert Book (Dilbert Collections)
by Scott Adams

4.0 out of 5 stars Always Good Fun!, 3 Nov 2013

If you are a Dilbert fan it will give you much needed relief, from the boredom that is office life!! Scott Adams has a knack for turning the politics of the office into highly funny insights of the absurdity of it all! :)
It seems as though everyone is mocked from the guy just trying to do his job, the moronic boss (we all know one) the sadistic HR people and even my favourite Topper, the guy whose stories will always beat yours!
The main characters are as cynical, sarcastic and irreverent as always!
I no longer work in an office and reading these books is the best reminder why!

5.0 out of 5 stars For the Adventurous!, 25 Oct 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: True Grit (Hardcover)
Sometimes in life we get hit by things difficult to understand, and it is only by having courage and that resilience that we get through. The people in this book experienced horrors far worse then many of us will ever see, but their never say die attitude is something we can all learn from. To keep going, to keep hopeful, to never quit these are lessons in life that all of us need to hear.
For the budding adventurer to the entrepreneur by staring insurmountable odds in the face and walking away it will always leave us better humans. Each story is easy enough to read in a quick time and although some may leave a bad taste in your mouth (eating human flesh! drinking Camel urine!) the way these people kept going is inspiring. Here is to the spirit of living life in your own way!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good new Addition, 24 Oct 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Asterix and the Picts (Hardcover)
I have loved Asterix since being small! So I was happy to hear of a new book, the illustrations are excellent keeping in line with Uderzo's original illustrations. The story is also great it feels like the Picts (Scots) deserved a book as Asterix and his friend Obelix have travelled all over the globe and met many different groups of people. It makes sense that Obelix would love tossing the caber and it also has a appearance of Nessie! :) Following on from the more recent Asterix books such as Asterix and the Actress and Asterix and the Falling sky this is more a return to form. It makes a good new edition to the Asterix collection and maybe if they do more they will keep getting better. Happy that I have got it! :)
